The construction of Blackthorn Castle began in 1247, commissioned by Lord Aleric Blackthorn, a nobleman of great influence and ambition. Originally designed as a military stronghold, the castle was strategically placed on the high cliffs overlooking the surrounding countryside, providing a commanding view of enemy movements. The Blackthorn family quickly rose to prominence, and the castle became the heart of their dynasty.
Over the centuries, Blackthorn Castle played a central role in some of the most significant events in regional history, including the Battle of Ravenshire in 1389, where the castle’s defenders successfully repelled a siege. The Blackthorn family’s involvement in both local and royal politics also led to numerous alliances, betrayals, and rivalries, shaping the castle’s rich and often turbulent history.
In 1745, the last heir to the Blackthorn legacy, Prince Alistair, mysteriously disappeared, leading to the family’s sudden fall from power. With no successor to inherit the throne, Blackthorn Castle was abandoned for many years, eventually becoming a historical landmark rather than a functioning estate.
